Newsletter from Principal Jenny — 08/16/2021

Dear parents/guardians,
The final days of summer are upon us and we are gearing up for the opening day of the school year.  While we were hopeful COVID would be fully in our rearview mirror, the Delta variant is becoming a public health threat that the number of kids hospitalized with this virus has been rising over the last few weeks.  The series of development has prompted NCS to reconsider its instruction method for the upcoming year.  We remain highly committed to providing a safe environment for our students and teachers.  After meeting with the board, we’ve decided to implement virtual learning for the 2021-22 school year.

Important Dates

  • Friday, 8/27
    • Parent service point deposit will be waived due to online classes, so you will receive a revised tuition amount from the Director of Registration by 8/27.

Classes may be canceled if minimum enrollment is not met.  Notification emails will be sent by 8/27.

Awards

Students who received academic awards from the school year 2020-21 and didn’t come to honor card prize exchange day, please pick up their trophies/certificates during material distribution on 8/28.

Extracurricular Classes

  • Badminton, Basketball, Chinese Yoyo, AP Chinese, Flower Art, Kung-Fu Sword, Kung-Fu Weapons, and TaiChi classes will be not be offered this year.
  • Beginner Dance, Advanced Dance, Dancing Exercise and Relaxing classes will be offered if minimum enrollment is met.  Details will be provided by Ms. Olinda.

NCS and teachers will partner with you to create a positive and encouraging learning environment for the students to learn from home.  The online format will be similar to last year’s.  Each teacher will communicate class expectations with students and parents in the first lesson.  We continue to improve our pedagogical strategies and implement best practices to enhance students’ learning experience.

I’m grateful for what we have achieved collectively.  My sincere thanks to your continued support, grace, and kindness as we navigate through another school together.

With much appreciation and anticipation,
Jenny Hong
